Question about shoplifting charges?

This can be a serious crime. It also depends on the amount stolen in merchandise.The store salesperson can hold you till the police arrive, but most stores have hired personel to watch and apprehend shoplifting suspects.Recently ,where I live a person was caught stealing a lamp,left the store and proceeded to get in his car and went home. One clerk asked the other, Did that man pay for that item ? she said no, since the clerk actually knew the man she called him at home and said, bring it back undamaged and unopened in it's original box or bring the 125 dollars. The man returned and brought her the money.Sentences can vary from one year probation to 5 years probation depending on the amount stolen and they usually try and recover the items or one must pay restitution and have that crime on there record.Stealing more than five hundred dollars is a felony charge not a misdemeanor.Countries like Morocco, will sometimes keep you in jail for up to five years and in extreme cases you may loose your hand by them cutting it off.In Eygpt if someone is caught stealing something from a home and the homeowner is at home and catches you, he has the right to attack and kill that person.
