I can't swallow my prescription..?

I have a UTI and was prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg. To take twice a day for 7 days. I have 3 days left and I've wasted 2 days worth because they are just too big for me to swallow. I would keep giving it a chance but the taste of the pill after it being in my mouth for at least a minute is disgusting and it makes me gag. I called my Physician and she told me to crush em up and eat them with apple sauce. I thought it was a good idea untill I tasted it. Lol. Cutting the pill into two does not work either. I'm not asking for methods of swallowing horse pills or anything. I am wondering if she can prescribe me a smaller mg that I can take more of each day or If the AZO UTI pills work just as good?
