Whi is it that despite showing all reverence and respect?

I think of myself as a respectful person. People have it until they loose it. And yet showing kindness and patience with those who believe in god, this act is never returned. Instead I have been damnated countless times by people who justify themselves by a belief. So why is it that despite my belief in a right to a belief I am often never returned the favour?
